Description
Faber Deep Enhancer — Professional Colour-Enhancing Impregnator for Compact Stone & Ceramics
Polished granite, porcelain stoneware, quartz agglomerates, and glazed ceramics all share a characteristic that makes protecting and enhancing them difficult: low surface absorption. Water-based sealers and many standard enhancers can’t penetrate the dense micropore structure of these materials efficiently — they sit on the surface, leave residue, and deliver disappointing results.
Deep Enhancer is Faber’s solvent-based answer. Its hydrocarbon carrier penetrates even the most compact surfaces, delivering colour-enhancing pigment chemistry deep into the material structure. The result: intensified natural tone, improved stain resistance, UV stability, and a clean matt finish — without film, without patina, without gloss.
Food Contact Certified — UK Kitchen & Hospitality Specification
Deep Enhancer is certified safe for use on surfaces in contact with food, making it suitable for:
- Granite and natural stone kitchen worktops
- Polished porcelain kitchen and dining surfaces
- Marble-resin and quartz-resin agglomerate worktops
- Hospitality, restaurant, and catering environments
- Food preparation areas in commercial kitchens
For UK stone care contractors and kitchen installers specifying a colour enhancer that can be applied to worktop surfaces, Deep Enhancer’s food contact certification removes the compliance risk that applies to non-certified solvent-based products.
Deep Enhancer vs Deep Enhancer Black — Which Do You Need?
| Deep Enhancer | Deep Enhancer Black | |
| Finish | Colour-neutral enhancement | Full black pigmentation |
| Surfaces | All compact/low-absorption stone and ceramic | Black stone and ceramic only |
| Result | Natural tone deepened | Uniform deep black |
| Use case | General colour enhancement and protection | Colour restoration on black materials |
Use Deep Enhancer when you want to enhance and protect the stone’s existing colour. Use Deep Enhancer Black specifically when the surface is black and uniform full-black colour restoration is the objective.
The Matt Finish — What to Expect
Deep Enhancer delivers a matt finish. This is not a gloss sealer — no reflectivity is added to the surface. What changes is tonal depth: the stone looks richer, darker, and more characterful — as it does when wet — but without sheen. On polished stone, the existing mirror finish is preserved; on textured or brushed surfaces, the matt character is maintained.
This makes Deep Enhancer the correct choice for honed granite, textured porcelain, brushed basalt, and any application where enhancing colour without adding gloss is the specification.
The Dwell Time Decision — Standard vs Maximum Enhancement
Deep Enhancer offers two application outcomes depending on how long the product is left before residue removal. This is one of the most important professional techniques for this product:
| Approach | Dwell Time Before Removal | Outcome |
| Standard | 20–30 minutes | Good colour enhancement, clean residue removal, easier application |
| Maximum | 45–60 minutes | Deeper colour enhancement, stronger stain protection, higher durability — but surface residues slightly harder to remove |
For particularly compact or dense surfaces where penetration is slower, the extended dwell time is recommended. For standard applications and first-time use on a material, start with the standard approach and test the result before committing to extended dwell time across the full surface.
Key Features
- Colour-enhancing — deepens the natural tone and character of compact stone, porcelain, and ceramics
- Matt finish — enhances colour without adding gloss or reflectivity
- Stain-proof — resists oil, water, and everyday contaminants
- Food contact certified — suitable for kitchen worktops and food preparation surfaces in the UK
- UV resistant and non-yellowing — suitable for exterior applications
- No surface film and no patina — penetrating treatment preserves natural texture and breathability
- Residue removal required — critical step at 20–60 minutes; incomplete removal causes greasiness
- Extended dwell time option — 45–60 minutes for maximum colour and protection depth on compact surfaces
- Higher coverage than standard sealers — 20–30 m²/L on compact surfaces
- Indoor and outdoor use
- 36-month shelf life
⚠️ Important Safety Information — Solvent-Based, Extremely Flammable
Deep Enhancer has a flash point below 21°C — classified as extremely flammable under CLP.
- Keep away from all heat sources, sparks, naked flames, and heated surfaces
- Do not smoke during or near application
- Ensure thorough ventilation — dangerous vapours accumulate rapidly at temperatures above the flash point in enclosed spaces
- Do not apply in presence of rain risk, frost, mist, fog, or high humidity
- Wear appropriate PPE: gloves, eye protection, and respiratory protection in enclosed spaces
Equipment cleaning: All tools must be cleaned immediately after use with white spirit. Water will not clean solvent-based product from application equipment.
Suitable Surfaces
Granite, limestone, marble, travertine, craquelé ceramic, glazed ceramic, marble-resin agglomerate, quartz-resin agglomerate, polished porcelain tiles, natural porcelain tiles, textured porcelain tiles, molten basalt, clinker, concrete, concrete tiles, concrete-based agglomerates. Indoor and outdoor.
How to Apply
Surface Preparation
- Clean thoroughly, removing all dust, dirt, and residues.
- Surface must be completely dry — never apply to wet or damp surfaces.
- Apply at surface temperatures between +5°C and +35°C.
- Protect adjacent surfaces not being treated.
Application
Always test on a small, unexposed area first — particularly important on compact surfaces where residue removal requires careful timing.
- Apply an even coat to the clean dry surface using a brush, roller, lambswool applicator, or cloth. Ensure full, even coverage.
- After 5–10 minutes, redistribute any excess across the surface using the same tool.
- After 20–30 minutes (standard) or 45–60 minutes (extended — for deeper enhancement on compact materials), remove all residues thoroughly using a floor polisher (1.5 HP, 175 rpm) fitted with a white or lambswool pad. For worktops, vertical surfaces, or small areas, an orbital or hand polisher with a white disc or felt cloth achieves the same result.
- Residue removal is critical — any product left on the surface after this stage will dry as a greasy patina that is very difficult to remove. Ensure no excess remains before the surface dries.
- Surface is dry within 1–2 hours. Return to normal use after 4–6 hours.
