Description
Menzer Green Normal Pad 406mm — High-Density Italian Polyester Floor Machine Pad
The Menzer colour coding system for normal pads runs from white at the softest end through to black at the most aggressive. The green pad sits one step below black — hard and slightly abrasive, with enough cutting action for light to moderate soiling and grain raise removal, but without the heavy aggression of the black pad that would risk over-cutting on prepared surfaces.
Understanding where the green sits in the range is the starting point for using it correctly.
| Colour | Hardness | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|
| White | Soft, non-abrasive | Polishing, maintenance, oil application |
| Beige | Soft, absorbent | Oiling and waxing parquet and hardwood |
| Red | Medium, non-abrasive | Oiled floor maintenance and light cleaning |
| Green | Hard, slightly abrasive | Light to moderate cleaning, grain raise, mesh carrier |
| Black | Very hard, abrasive | Heavy cleaning, aggressive soiling, mesh carrier |
Construction and Quality
Menzer floor pads are manufactured in Italy from high-density polyester fibre. The density of the pad construction is not cosmetic — it determines how consistently the pad maintains contact pressure across its full face during a machine pass.
A high-density pad resists compression under machine weight more effectively than lower density alternatives. In practice this means consistent cleaning action from the centre to the edge of the pad on every pass, stable mesh carrier performance without flex or bridging across the pad face, and a longer working life before the pad loses its structural integrity and needs replacing.
The Italian manufacture reflects Menzer’s positioning as a professional-grade tool supplier rather than a commodity pad producer — the same manufacturing standards that apply to their abrasives extend across the pad range.
Primary Applications
Light to moderate floor cleaning For floors with light soiling, surface contamination, or dulling films where the red pad is not abrasive enough but the black pad would be excessive. The green pad removes light build-up from stone, tile, and hard floor surfaces without the risk of over-cutting on more sensitive finishes.
Oiled floor care and maintenance The green pad is suitable for maintenance cleaning of oiled wood floors where a degree of mechanical action is needed alongside the cleaning chemistry. More aggressive than the red pad where the floor has heavier soiling or a build-up of maintenance product residue that a softer pad cannot shift.
Sanding mesh and driveboard carrier The green pad provides a firm, consistent base for carrying sanding mesh screens and Crobber driveboards on single-disc machines. Its hardness and high-density construction ensure the mesh maintains consistent contact with the floor surface across the full pad face rather than flexing under the machine weight, which delivers a more even scratch pattern and reduces the risk of uneven abrasion between passes.
Grain raise removal after water popping Water popping — wetting bare wood before staining to open the grain and achieve deeper, more even stain penetration — raises the wood fibres as it dries. Once fully dry those raised fibres need knocking back before the stain is applied. The green pad is well suited to this step — hard enough to cut the raised grain fibres effectively on a single-disc machine pass, but controlled enough not to cut into the prepared wood surface or undo the sanding work beneath. Always ensure the floor is fully dry before this step and vacuum and tack thoroughly after to remove fine wood dust from the open grain before staining.

Choosing the Right Pad
If the green pad is too aggressive for the application — polishing, oil application, or maintenance on a sensitive finish — step down to the Menzer Red Normal Pad for medium, non-abrasive maintenance or the Menzer White Normal Pad for soft polishing and oiling work.
If more aggression is needed — heavy soiling, ingrained contamination, or where the green pad is not cutting sufficiently — step up to the Menzer Black Normal Pad for very hard abrasive cleaning action.
