Description
Arboritec Genuine 5 – Ultra-Matte 2K Wood Floor Finish
Arboritec Genuine 5 is a 2-component (2K), 100% waterborne polyurethane floor finish with a 5GU ultra-matte sheen, designed for wood and parquet floors in heavy commercial and residential environments. Ceramic-fortified using Arboritec’s proprietary Small Particles Technology, it offers a refined, low-sheen finish that enhances the natural character of the wood while providing outstanding long-term protection.
What is the Genuine 5 Sheen Level?
The “5” refers to the gloss unit level — 5GU is a true ultra-matte finish that sits just above the virtually invisible Naked sheen. It delivers a subtle, sophisticated appearance that reads as natural and untreated while still offering a fine, consistent surface. For those who want a touch more definition than Naked without any noticeable shine, Genuine 5 is the ideal choice.
Exceptional Durability — Ceramic Fortified
Genuine 5 is reinforced with Ceramic Silica, one of the hardest naturally occurring minerals (Knoop hardness 4,500–4,600), significantly outperforming the aluminium oxide (1,800–2,200 Knoop) used in most prefinished floor coatings. This results in outstanding resistance to scratches, heel marks and everyday household chemicals, with up to 30% less petrochemical raw material use compared to conventional lacquers.
Certified for Indoor Air Quality
Genuine 5 is tested and certified by Eurofins Product Testing:
- French VOC Regulation: A+ (the highest possible rating)
- Indoor Air Comfort® (IAC): Pass
- Italian CAM: Pass
- AgBB/ABG (German): Pass
- Belgian VOC Regulation: Pass
- BREEAM International: Exemplary Level
- LEED v4.1: Compliant (VOC emission requirements)
- EMICODE: EC 2
The 28-day TVOC emission (EN 16516) is just 190 µg/m³ — well within European limits — with zero detectable carcinogens, formaldehyde below detection limits, and no CMR substances (benzene, trichloroethylene, DBP, DEHP).
Slip Resistance — Independently Tested
Genuine (mixed with 10% hardener, applied in two coats) was independently tested to EN 13036-4 (pendulum test) by ITC – Institut pro testování a certifikaci. Results:
- Pendulum Test Value (PTV): 86 (individual readings: 86, 86, 86, 85, 86)
- Required range (EN 14904 sports surfaces): 80–110
- Result: PASS
This confirms excellent slip resistance under dry conditions for both residential and commercial applications, including sports and multipurpose surfaces.
Fire Classification
The coating system (Arboritec Seal Coat + Arboritec Genuine) has been classified to EN 13501-1:2019 by ITC Fire Technical Laboratory:
Reaction to fire classification: B_fl – s1
This is the second-highest possible fire class for floor coverings, with the lowest smoke production rating — suitable for use in demanding commercial and public building applications.

Directions for Use
- Sand floor to a professional standard (120-grit belt or 100-grit screen). Surface must be dry and free from contamination.
- Keep underfloor heating off from the day before application until 24 hours after.
- Temperature of floor, air, hardener and product must be between 13°C and 25°C. Relative humidity 40–60%.
- Mix contents with 10% hardener, shake for 1 minute, allow to react for 10 minutes before applying. Do not dilute.
- Apply along the direction of the wood with a lightweight T-bar applicator, 10mm roller, or brush. Close windows and doors during application.
- Apply 2–3 coats over an Arboritec primer (First Coat or Vibrant) for best results. Sanding between coats is optional.

FAQs
What’s the difference between Genuine 5 and Genuine Naked? Both are 2-component, ceramic-fortified waterborne finishes with identical formulations. The difference is sheen level only — Genuine 5 is ultra-matte (5GU) with a very subtle surface definition, while Genuine Naked has the lowest possible sheen, making the finish virtually invisible on the wood.
Is Genuine 5 suitable for underfloor heating? Yes, but underfloor heating must be switched off from the day before application until 24 hours after the final coat.
Does it require a primer? For best results on bare, unstained wood, always use an Arboritec primer such as First Coat, Seal Coat or Vibrant before applying Genuine 5. Miracle Oil can also be used as an oil primer.
How long before the floor can be used? Light foot traffic is possible after drying (30–60 minutes on bare wood, 2–4 hours between coats). Full cure is achieved after 3 days.
Is Genuine 5 suitable for sports floors? Yes — it has been independently tested to EN 13036-4 and achieves a Pendulum Test Value of 86, meeting the requirements of EN 14904 for indoor sports and multipurpose surfaces.
