Description
Menzer Black Floor Pad 406mm — Maximum Aggression Italian Polyester Floor Machine Pad
The black pad sits at the most aggressive end of the Menzer normal pad range. Very hard and abrasive, it is the heavy duty option for jobs where no other pad in the range has sufficient mechanical action — stripping old floor coatings, removing extreme soiling, deep cleaning heavily contaminated surfaces, and carrying sanding mesh where maximum cutting force is needed.
The black pad is a tool for specific situations. Understanding when it is the right choice — and when it is not — prevents surface damage and wasted time on jobs where a less aggressive pad would deliver better results.
| Colour | Hardness | Primary Use |
|---|---|---|
| White | Soft, non-abrasive | Polishing creams and powders, maintenance polishing, buffing |
| Beige | Soft, absorbent | Oiling, waxing, product application and burnishing |
| Red | Medium, non-abrasive | Oiled floor maintenance, light to deep cleaning, lacquered floor care |
| Green | Hard, slightly abrasive | Light to moderate cleaning, grain raise, mesh carrier |
| Black | Very hard, abrasive | Extreme deep cleaning, coating stripping, heavy soiling, mesh carrier |
Construction and Quality
Menzer floor pads are manufactured in Italy from high-density polyester fibre. For the black pad the high-density construction is particularly critical — maximum aggression requires maximum structural integrity. A lower density pad at this hardness level would compress unevenly under machine weight, lose its abrasive character quickly, and deliver inconsistent results across a large floor area.
The high-density Italian construction means the black pad maintains its hardness and abrasive character consistently across its full working life — delivering the same cutting performance on the last job as the first.
The Italian manufacture reflects Menzer’s positioning as a professional-grade tool supplier — the same manufacturing standards that apply to their abrasives extend across the entire pad range.
Primary Applications
Stripping old floor coatings The black pad’s primary heavy duty application is stripping old wax, polish, maintenance product build-up, and failed coatings from stone, tile, and hard floor surfaces. Used with a concentrated stripping chemistry the black pad provides the mechanical action needed to break the bond between the old coating and the floor surface and lift it for extraction.
Suitable for use with:
- Faber CottoSolv — super-concentrated alkaline wax, resin, and coating stripper
- Faber Dec 21 — wax stripper and inorganic residue remover
- Faber Alkaline Cleaner — deep cleaning and wax strip solution for stone and tiles
- Faber Decera P — concentrated alkaline cleaner for heavy duty stripping applications
Extreme deep cleaning of heavily soiled surfaces For floors with extreme soiling — years of ingrained contamination, heavy grease build-up, biological matter on external stone, or post-construction contamination — the black pad combined with concentrated alkaline chemistry delivers the mechanical action that lighter pads cannot achieve. The very hard abrasive fibre cuts through surface contamination and works the chemistry into the soiling layer for effective extraction.
Suitable for use with:
- Faber 30 — concentrated alkaline deep cleaner for stone and tile
- Faber CottoSolv — super-concentrated alkaline formula for maximum soiling removal
Heavy sanding mesh and driveboard carrying The black pad provides the firmest, most stable base in the range for carrying sanding mesh screens and Crobber driveboards where maximum cutting force is required. Its very hard high-density construction transmits machine weight directly to the mesh surface without compression or flex, delivering consistent aggressive cutting action across the full pad face.
For contractors using mesh screens for aggressive denibbing, heavy grain raise removal, or abrading existing coatings before recoating, the black pad delivers more consistent and more aggressive results than any other pad in the range.
Post-construction and end of installation cleaning After tile and stone installation, cement residues, grout haze, and construction contamination require significant mechanical action alongside acid or alkaline cleaning chemistry to remove fully. The black pad combined with appropriate post-installation cleaners delivers the mechanical action needed to lift heavy residues without damaging the newly installed surface.
Suitable for use with:
- Faber Disycott — end of installation cleaner for cement and grout residues
- Faber Cement Remover — powerful acid cleaner for post-installation residues on acid-resistant surfaces
Important — surface suitability The black pad is not appropriate for sensitive calcareous stones — marble, limestone, travertine — polished porcelain, or any surface where scratch risk must be minimised. On these surfaces use the Menzer Red Floor Pad for deep cleaning or the Menzer Green Floor Pad for moderate cleaning. Reserve the black pad for robust surfaces — unpolished stone, ceramic, concrete, terracotta, and hard tile — where its aggression can be used safely.

Choosing the Right Pad
If the application requires mechanical action but with less aggression — maintenance cleaning of oiled or lacquered floors, deep cleaning of sensitive stone — step down to the Menzer Red Floor Pad for medium non-abrasive cleaning or the Menzer Green Floor Pad for hard slightly abrasive cleaning on non-sensitive surfaces.
For polishing, oil application, or any task where scratch risk must be zero, the Menzer White Floor Pad and Menzer Beige Floor Pad are the correct tools.
